One woman, who has herself been both an SEND child and a parent to SEND children, has stepped forward to help those Mums who maybe being failed by the system, waiting to get support, or who don’t qualify for NHS or social care help.
Alison Rose-Mannall has spent the last 3 years qualifying as a coach to help SEND Mums and families thrive and just this week she has launched her first online course aimed at supporting SEND families further. She said:
“When you realise that 18% of pupils have SEN and a further 11% of under 16s are disabled in the UK, it makes you realise the scale of the system needed to support these families. I love coaching but I was keen to help as many women as possible – the quickest way to do this is to share my knowledge in a course.”
Called The Balanced Mum: Strategies for SEND Families, the seven-module course is brim full with videos, journalling, worksheets, quizzes and more. Covering five key elements in each module, the course helps SEND Mums in a multitude of topics including Recognising and Accepting Your Emotions, Cultivating Self Compassion and Kindness, Emotional Regulation and Stress Management, Creating Boundaries and Preventing Burnout, Mindful Parenting Practices for SEND Mums, Building Emotional resilience, and Reclaiming Your Identity and Confidence.
Available on Udemy, the course will launch on 1st November and is just £99.99 until 14 November when the 50% discount offer will end. Alison concluded:
“As a Mum2Mum Coach, I believe in guiding my clients towards acceptance of the emotional trauma that we experience when given our child's diagnosis. I believe everyone has the ability to thrive in family life without negativity and judgement that so often comes from friends and family, leaving you feeling isolated and alone. I am here to help you discover your inner strength that will help you deal with the struggles but also celebrate the wins that you often overlook as a SEND Mum!”
