There was almost a 200 per cent year-on-year hike in sales thanks to extra interest generated by the Renegade.
The UK arm of the business reported that last month was its third-best ever – with 2,097 cars registered in the UK compared to 762 in the same month last year.
It’s an incredible turnaround for the company, which was struggling in the UK thanks to increased competition from younger manufacturers.
The Jeeps of old were looking and feeling outdated, and the utilitarian styling wasn’t attractive compared to the cheaper alternatives, such as those from Kia.
However, compact SUV, the Renegade, rescued the company’s image and generated extra sales from a sector Jeep hadn’t competed in until this year.
“The sales figures are fantastic news, not only for new Renegade, but for the Jeep brand as a whole,” Damien Dally, head of brand, Jeep UK, told Converge. “It is quite clear that more people are turning to Jeep for their next car, as we bring exciting new models to the UK.
“We were confident last year that Renegade would help us to grow the Jeep brand, and I’m delighted that’s happened. But it won’t stop there – I can promise more to come from us yet.”
